MATILDA AUDITIONS

LCA Company proudly announces non-equity open call auditions for their upcoming production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, The inspiring story of an extraordinary girl comes to life.  The auditions will be at LCA Performing Arts Studio, 901 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL, 33154.. The production is directed by Luciana Caplan with music direction by Andres Lasaga and choreography by Lipe Arena. Based on the beloved novel, Matilda is the magical story of a courageous little girl with an unbounded imagination. She proves that despite the odds, you can do anything you put your mind to—and change your destiny.

 

Audition candidates should be strong singers and dancers. Roles may be double cast.

 

The first round of auditions will be singing and reading.

VOCAL AND READING CALL: August 20, 2022 at 10am 18+ & 2:00pm youth.

Please bring non-returnable headshot and resume at the time of the audition.

Auditioners will also be asked to read from the script.

Please take a look at the Character Breakdown about the song that you should sing for the audition, depending on the role that you are auditioning for.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time and check-in. Actors will sign in, receive a name tag, and present their resumes and headshots. You will be introduced to the production team present at auditions, and then everyone will sing and read.

You might be contacted for the second round of auditions - a dance call - by 12pm on Tuesday, August 23rd, if the director needs to have you come back. 

DANCE CALL: September 3rd, 2022 at 10am 18+ & 2pm Youth

Please come prepared to dance on the night you audition and bring jazz shoes or sneakers. You will learn a combo from the show – and those indicating ballroom skills will have an additional routine.

The cast list will be posted online after all cast members are confirmed by phone or email, and anyone who attends auditions will receive an email regarding casting whether cast or not. 

Performers must be vaccinated. 

Actors not available to audition in person are encouraged to submit a video audition to info@lcapa.com

Rehearsals schedule:

September 9, 16, 23, 30 and October 7 (Fridays):

18+: 1 PM - 8 PM

Youth: 4 PM - 8 PM

October 12 - 25

Tuesday to Friday : 10 AM - 8 PM

Saturday and Sunday: (all cast) 2PM - 8 PM

Tech: October 26 TBD

Dress Rehearsal: October 27 TBD

Performances of Matilda will be held Oct, 28 (7 PM), 29 and 30 (2PM and 7 PM)

All characters use some form of British accent.

Age: 9 to 12 An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: A3

Miss Agatha Trunchbull

Age: 35 to 55 The tyrannical headmistress at Matilda’s school who despises children. Vocal range top: G4 Vocal range bottom: A2

Miss Honey

Age: 25 to 40 Matilda’s kindhearted teacher. She is tired of living in fear under Miss Trunchbull. Vocal range top: D5 Vocal range bottom: F3

Age: 35 to 45 Matilda’s uncaring father. A slimy, greedy used-car salesman. Vocal range top: A4 Vocal range bottom: D3

Age: 10 to 15 Matilda’s older brother. He is not very bright and favored by their parents.

Bruce

Age: 7 to 14 Matilda’s classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. Vocal range top: E5 Vocal range bottom: C4

Ensemble

Cook, Henchman 1, Henchman 2, Henchman 3, Parents, Little Kids and Big Kids (A very STRONG group of dancers and singers. They are the tough kids at the school and perform the shows biggest singing and dancing numbers: EX: Revolting children. These kids have to be substantially bigger than the little kids…so teenagers.)
